Negative emotions usually come with negative thoughts. When you are depressed or anxious, your thoughts can become too negative and stop matching the reality of the situation. It’s like you are looking at everything through negative lenses. One way to improve your mood or anxiety is to look at your thoughts and test whether they are realistic by looking at evidence for and against them. If you are interested in doing this, this app can help. This app helps you track situations that make you feel sad or anxious, or other negative emotions. You can then test whether your thoughts are realistic by looking at evidence for and against them, and come up with different ways of viewing the situation. Thought records are often used in cognitive-behavioural therapy, a type of talking therapy that has been shown to be helpful for issues such as depression and anxiety. Designed by mental health professionals, “My Thought Record” can be used by people on their own or who are already in therapy. This app: - Was designed for youth 12-18 years old, with the input of youth - Does not collect personal information, with all the information you provide stored locally on your device Please be aware that: - You may want to consider password protecting your device to keep your information private - This app and its contents are designed for information purposes only and cannot be used to diagnose or treat depression or other mental health problems - This app is not a substitute for professional mental health care or emergency services The Am I? Series was created by Dr. Julie Eichstedt, Dr. Devita Singh, and Dr. Kerry Collins, clinical psychologists with many years of experience in child and adolescent mental health, in collaboration with mindyourmind and input from youth volunteers. It was programmed and designed by Red Square Labs, with support from the Children's Health Foundation, and its donors, including the John and Jean Wettlaufer Family.

How does it work? Moodrise delivers a bright constellation of curated images, video, and audio to positively (and specifically) impact brain chemistry, and progressively elevate your mood. We pair proven science with the power of storytelling to help you feel better. We call this: Digital Nutrition. Think of it as a vital supplement to your existing digital diet. Everything you see or hear on Moodrise is positive and purposeful, and uniquely designed to boost your sense of well-being. Why now? Because we're living in the midst of a global mental health crisis, with more than 300M people actively suffering from clinical depression, and hundreds of millions more impacted by mild to moderate symptoms of anxiety. Rather than ditch our phones entirely, we’re developing a suite of products to intelligently leverage technology to support (and nourish) individual emotional needs, improve mental health, strengthen resilience and elevate well-being. That’s our mission. Is Moodrise for me? It is. We all want to live our best lives, and we really do deserve to feel good. But our team realize that the “wellness journey” can often be tough, tedious, and time-consuming. In many cases, it can be expensive. But we won’t ever charge an arm or a leg. And we aren’t making painful changes to your lifestyle. Our narrow goal is to reduce distress and suffering, put a smile on your face, and progressively improve your experience here on planet Earth. Is it REALLY that easy? Yes. Remember: not everything that feels good has to be bad for you. And not everything that’s truly good for you works instantaneously. Sometimes, the very best things take a little bit of time to deliver their full benefits. That’s Moodrise. Don’t believe us? Give it a shot. Try Moodrise for yourself.

**The Zones of Regulation is a recipient of the prestigious Mom’s Choice Award **Seen on The History Channel & Bio Network The Zones of Regulation (www.zonesofregulation.com) is a framework for thinking as well as a curriculum geared toward helping students gain skills in consciously regulating their behaviors, including the management of their emotions and level of alertness. This, in turn, leads to increased self-control and problem solving abilities. Introducing the new Zones Picture Studio! Team up and learn emotional awareness by taking pictures with your device. Scenarios are presented to students providing them the opportunity to reflect on how the scenario would make their body feel. Thinking about the cues from their body and brain, students use the app to capture what the feeling looks like on them, gaining insights on the physiological cues that accompany emotions. All pictures will be taken with your device's camera, stored on your device, and displayed directly in the app for easy review. Students can even create their own scenarios. The new Zones Picture Studio offers hours upon hours of fun and education. Leah Kuypers is the author of the book, The Zones of Regulation (2011, Social Thinking Publishing). The Zones of Regulation was featured as a promising practice in Attention Magazine and is being implemented school wide in districts across the United States and Canada. The Zones assists students in conceptualizing how they are feeling by creating a system to categorize their emotions and levels of alertness into one of four zones. Using a cognitive behavior approach, the App's learning activities are designed to help students recognize when they are in different zones, with each of the four zones represented by a different color. The Zones is designed to be used with elementary students, secondary students, and adults. Throughout the App, students learn how to use strategies or tools to manage their feelings and behaviors in each zone. Given each student's needs and preferences are unique, students explore various calming techniques, cognitive strategies, and sensory supports, building a toolbox of methods to use to regulate and move between zones. However, self-regulation takes a lot more than knowing about tools. To deepen students' understanding of how to self-regulate, the App also explores how triggers or different events can impact how they are feeling. The App highlights how to read others' facial expressions and recognize a broader range of emotions and perspectives about how others see and react to their behavior, insight into events that trigger their different zones, and when and how to use tools and problem solving skills to change the way they are thinking and feeling. The App provides a fun, and engaging experience while learning and gaining valuable knowledge to assist in developing real-life skills. Students will be taken on an adventure throughout a town filled with excitement, rewards, and mini games. To enhance learning, it is recommended that an adult closely monitor the student's progression through the App, asking probing questions and facilitating discussions about how the App's content can be generalized to the student's real life. The content of the App can be further explored using the lessons and learning activities featured in the curriculum book, The Zones of Regulation. Download The Zones of Regulation today!

Problems with the spine such as osteoporosis can lead to back pain. The human back is composed of a complex structure of muscles, ligaments, tendons, disks, and bones, which work together to support the body and enable us to move around. The segments of the spine are cushioned with cartilage-like pads called disks. Problems with any of these components can lead to back pain. In some cases of back pain, its cause remains unclear. Damage can result from strain, medical conditions, and poor posture, among others. Strain Back pain commonly stems from strain, tension, or injury. Frequent causes of back pain are: strained muscles or ligaments a muscle spasm muscle tension damaged disks injuries, fractures, or falls Activities that can lead to strains or spasms include: lifting something improperly lifting something that is too heavy making an abrupt and awkward movement Structural problems A number of structural problems may also result in back pain. Ruptured disks: Each vertebra in the spine is cushioned by disks. If the disk ruptures there will be more pressure on a nerve, resulting in back pain. Bulging disks: In much the same way as ruptured disks, a bulging disk can result in more pressure on a nerve. Sciatica: A sharp and shooting pain travels through the buttock and down the back of the leg, caused by a bulging or herniated disk pressing on a nerve. Arthritis: Osteoarthritis can cause problems with the joints in the hips, lower back, and other places. In some cases, the space around the spinal cord narrows. This is known as spinal stenosis. Abnormal curvature of the spine: If the spine curves in an unusual way, back pain can result. An example is scoliosis, in which the spine curves to the side. Osteoporosis: Bones, including the vertebrae of the spine, become brittle and porous, making compression fractures more likely. Kidney problems: Kidney stones or kidney infection can cause back pain. Movement and posture Back pain can also result from some everyday activities or poor posture. Examples include: twisting coughing or sneezing muscle tension over-stretching bending awkwardly or for long periods pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying something standing or sitting for long periods straining the neck forward, such as when driving or using a computer long driving sessions without a break, even when not hunched sleeping on a mattress that does not support the body and keep the spine straight Other causes Some medical conditions can lead to back pain. Cauda equina syndrome: The cauda equine is a bundle of spinal nerve roots that arise from the lower end of the spinal cord. Symptoms include a dull pain in the lower back and upper buttocks, as well as numbness in the buttocks, genitalia, and thighs. There are sometimes bowel and bladder function disturbances. Cancer of the spine: A tumor on the spine may press against a nerve, resulting in back pain. Infection of the spine: A fever and a tender, warm area on the back could be due to an infection of the spine. Other infections: Pelvic inflammatory disease, bladder, or kidney infections may also lead to back pain. Sleep disorders: Individuals with sleep disorders are more likely to experience back pain, compared with others. Shingles: An infection that can affect the nerves may lead to back pain. This depends on which nerves are affected.
